About:

The San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Information Technology Department is the technology services provider within Public Health, delivering technology infrastructure and services to approximately 10,000 users within the organization to help support over 100,000 patients annually.

Role description

The 1092 Epic Endpoint Readiness technician, under the direction of the Infrastructure Readiness Project Manager, will:

  • Deploy new endpoints, scanners, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Install monitor arms, ergonomic equipment and conduct cable management.
  • Participate in walkthroughs and document computing environments such as endpoint locations and printing relationships.
  • Manage e-waste, including removal of hard drives, memory, etc. 
  • Image devices using SCCM, participate in device testing.
  • Work with customers to document opportunities for efficiencies and improvements in the EHR work environment.
  • Maintain documentation in Service Now and other enterprise applications.
  • Support TDRs and Go-Lives as necessary.
  • Create and/or update Windows print mappings for devices using the DPH Location Based Printing tool. 

Worksites will be across the entire San Francisco Department of Health. Home base will be Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, but team will be deployed throughout SF to locations including the community-based clinics and Laguna Honda Hospital. Team members may need to travel to these sites on their own as DPH vehicles may not be available.

How to qualify

  • An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semesters or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].
    AND
  • One (1) year of experience performing analysis, installation and technical support in a network environment.
    • One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours of work experience (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours a week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment. 
  • Education Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Project Online/Server
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Visio
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience with Service Now
  • Experience working in IT in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with Epic Infrastructure readiness projects
  • Experience with IT components of construction projects
