Role description
This 9920 Public Service Aide position works on the accounting activities in the Controller’s Accounting Operations and Suppliers Division (AOSD), with significant assignments in the divisions’ Finance and Accounting Services Team (FAST).
AOSD is responsible for monitoring, tracking and approving citywide financial transactions in conformance with established procedures and controls. It is also responsible for establishing and maintaining citywide guidelines, policies, procedures and internal controls. The City’s financial system, PeopleSoft, is used extensively in this work. The City’s reporting and analytical tool, BI, and Excel are also heavily used.
Under direction, this 9920 position may perform and assist a wide range of accounting duties including the following:
- Provide departmental assistance to ensure compliance with Controller’s policies and procedures, and accurate and timely recording of financial information in the City’s financial system.
- Prepare and process various financial, accounting, payables, purchasing, encumbrance and other documents in the financial system.
- Perform cash count, make bank deposits, record cash receipts, and assist in bank reconciliation.
- Pre-Audit employee reimbursement requests to ensure compliance with City and departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist in interdepartmental services billings.
- Perform general office duties as assigned.
How to qualify
Education: Possess an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits.

Appointment Type: Tempoary-Exempt (TEX) Appointment. Pursuant to the City & County of San Francisco Charter, Section 10.104.13. Any person occupying a position under exempt appointment shall not be subject to civil service selection, appointment, and removal procedures. Exempt employees shall serve at the pleasure of the appointing officer.
