About the Department of Elections
The mission of the Department of Elections (Department) is to provide equitable access to voting and election-related services and to conduct free, fair, and functional elections for the City and County of San Francisco. Department staff work year-round to ensure that every eligible San Franciscan has easy access to safe, barrier-free registration and voting options. Role description
The Department is seeking applications for the position of the Video and Graphics Coordinator.
The Video and Graphics Coordinator, works with the Poll Worker Division and Outreach Division Supervisors to plan, shoot, edit, and produce video content used by the Department of Elections in support of the success of its poll worker training and voter outreach programs. The person in this position will plan, schedule, produce, and assist with distributing and considering promotional opportunities of video content. The Video and Graphics Coordinator will use creative storytelling to create informative, captivating, and engaging content for poll workers and members of the public. The Video and Graphics Coordinator will help create graphics to enhance the delivery of election messages to the general public, poll workers, and focus populations.

Position Schedule and Salary
This is a seasonal position, with a tentative start date of December 4, 2023; the actual start date is contingent upon completion of the hiring process. The end date for the position is approximately March 22, 2024, with opportunity for assignment extension of approximately until after the November 2024 Election; the exact end date will be determined by the operational needs of the Department.
The person in this position must be available to work on-site at City Hall. Work hours will generally be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The person in this position must be available to work overtime both during the week and on weekends as necessary.
Position Description
In addition to the range of duties assigned to the 1403 job code, the person in this position will be responsible for the tasks outlined below:
- Uses creative storytelling techniques to enhance the production of elections training and outreach videos.
- Creates and manages digital content and graphic design in a timely manner, including video and motion graphics.
- Plans, scripts, shoots, and edits videos.
- Develops and maintains inventory and archives of video content,
- Develops engaging and interactive training materials that incorporate multimedia elements, such as audio, video, and graphics.
- Develops design for flyers, brochures, forms, newsletters, signs, etc.
- Creates engaging, accurate, and consistent slideshow presentations for in-person and recorded delivery
- Plans and participates in general outreach events and poll worker recruitment fairs
- Provides general clerical support and assist with other tasks, as needed
Position Salary:
$32.050 to $38.9500 per hour
$66,664 to $81,016 annually
How to qualify
Minimum Qualifications
The person in this position must have two (2) years (equivalent of 4000 hours) of verifiable clerical experience including preparing and maintaining a variety of records and documents, public contact and gathering information.
Substitution: Completion of a clerical training program (240 hours) or the equivalent of 15 units of coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to 6 months of clerical experience.
The person in this position must also possess a valid California Driver’s License (to be able to drive to outreach events around the City) and be able to move and lift up to 50 pounds of supplies and equipment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Proficiency in Adobe products, including InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Captivate, and Premiere skills
- Experience with videography, video editing, and graphic design
