  • Appointment Type: Permanent-Exempt. This position is exempt from Civil Service Commission rules pursuant to the City and County of San Francisco, Charter Section 10.104, and incumbents serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer.
  • Appointment Duration: 12 months

Role description

Under general supervision, the 9910 Well-Being Program Intern will research, develop, and create materials related to SFO’s Well-Being program and may work under the supervision of the well-being program coordinator.

You are excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Research, develop and distribute materials related to SFO’s Well-Being program and employee benefits.
  • Create engaging content to encourage Airport employees to utilize benefits and resources.
  • Provide outreach at events and give presentations on Well-Being resources.
  • Map employee benefits; support employees as needed, researching and providing resources tailored to individual employees’ unique needs and circumstances, serving as liaison, as needed, between employees and resources, such as, community-based organizations and more.
  • Coordinate with People, Performance and Development, Airport and City stakeholders, in alignment with the requirements of HIPPA, and keep and maintain detailed case records.
  • Document and maintain records, track data and report on key performance indicators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other functions outlined in the 9910 Public Service Trainee classification.

How to qualify

1. Education:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of local resources, information and support related to housing, income, child and dependent care, health and well-being, education and more.
  • Knowledge of the ethnic, economic and social factors affecting Airport Commission employees.
  • Ability and skill to speak, read and write English as well as Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Tagalog; communicate with SFO employees; work effectively with professional and other staff members.

Selection Procedures:
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following:

The selection process will include an evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Depending on the number of applicants, the department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the department will move forward in the recruitment process.

Transportation (TSA) Security Clearance:
Candidates for employment with the San Francisco Airport Commission are required to undergo a criminal history record check, including FBI fingerprints, and Security Threat Assessment to determine eligibility for security clearance and may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening. Per Civil Service Commission Rule Section 110.9.1, every applicant for an examination must possess and maintain the qualifications required by law and by the examination announcement for the examination. Failure to obtain and maintain security clearance may be the basis for termination of employment with the Airport Commission.
