This is a Temporary Provisional (TPV) position, limited to no more than 3 years in duration. This temporary position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process. This is considered "at will" and shall serve at the discretion of the Department Head. This position will be subject to the Permanent Civil Service examination process at a later date. Successful participation in the Permanent Civil Service examination and selection through an open competitive process is needed in order to be considered for a permanent appointment.

Real Estate (RED)
The Real Estate Division is comprised of a team of over 220 full time staff delivering professional real estate services to a variety of clients. The Division completes appraisals and analysis of real property considered for City sale, lease, development or acquisition, and acts as a real estate consultant to Departments, the Mayor, and the Board of Supervisors.
We have responsibility for: Acquisition of all real property required for City purposes; Sale of surplus real property owned by the City; Leasing of property required by various City departments; Operations at the Alemany Farmers' and Flea Markets (100 Alemany); Custodial and engineering services for various City departments at over 60 different locations; Full service property management services to over 4,000,000 square feet of city-owned offices, including City Hall, 1 South Van Ness Avenue, 49 South Van Ness, San Francisco Police Headquarters, and the Hall of Justice.
Role description
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST
The Assistant Building Manager and Contracts Coordinator at 49 South Van Ness Avenue will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Manage and administer the vehicle shared carpool reservation system for building tenants. Oversee the fleet vehicle shared carpool program and train departments as needed. Serve as the primary point of contact for parking -related matters and primary liaison with Central Shops. Oversight of the parking garage and vehicle charging station administration.
- Ensure each department has a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) for 49 South Van Ness and develop a COOP for RED office in the event of a temporary crisis, shutdown at the building.
- Assist with logistics, scheduling, layout, and event/conference center management. Serve as the audiovisual system administrator and liaison for event/conference center.
- Assist with vendor management for third parties working within the building.
- Assist with contracts administration and oversight associated with the building and at RED.
- Creation and implementation of building processes, policies and procedures.
- Assist with day-to-day management of overall tenant communications.
- Assist with ensuring building regulations and rules are enforced.
- Serve as acting Building Manager as necessary.
How to qualify
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
These minimum qualifications establish the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license(s) which are required for employment in the classification. Please note, additional qualifications (i.e. special conditions) may apply to a particular position and will be stated on the job ad.
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years full-time equivalent experience performing professional-level analytical work. Qualifying professional-level analytical work includes analysis, development, administration, and reporting in major programs and functions of an organization in the areas of budgets, contracts, grants, policy, or other functional areas related to the duties of positions in the 182X Class series.
Substitution:
Possession of a graduate degree (Master's degree or higher) from an accredited college or university with major coursework in specialized subject matter areas such as public or business administration, management, business law, contract law, public policy, urban studies, economics, statistical analysis, finance, accounting or other fields of study closely related to the essential functions of positions in the Class series may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience.
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of 2 years). Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.
