About the Information Technology Team

The team is a collaborative and dynamic group of 12 employees, including an IT Director, a Senior Network Engineer, three Network Administrators, two desktop support and trainer employees, a Database Manager and Database Analysist, and a three-person Litigation Support Team. The team is dedicated to providing end users with a comprehensive package of applications, Litigation Support and Computer Forensic tools essential to delivering efficient and timely legal services to the City and County of San Francisco. The conducts ongoing research of hardware and software developments; identifies technologies and knowledge base resources appropriate for existing and anticipated office needs; effectively integrates equipment and software into the daily workflow; and facilitates productivity and user satisfaction through effective customizations and timely support.

This position is responsible for:

  • Setup and equipment move due to staffing relocations, team re-orgs and major office-wide computer migrations.
  • Setup of Ergotron “sit-stand” for single/dual computer monitors.
  • Tag and asset inventory of new hardware received.
  • Send and receive of computer equipment for warranty replacement.
  • Mounting of large conference TVs and PCs to rolling “multi-media” carts
  • Setup of computer equipment and servers onto server racks
  • Setup of floor-standing/desktop networked printers and copiers
  • Setup and transport of computer equipment for onsite, remote sites, and remote access use
  • Transport of computers and trial presentation equipment to/from courthouses
  • Receive deliveries of new and dispose of old computer equipment.
  • Lifting Minimum 35 pounds

How to qualify

Minimum Qualifications

Requires an Associate's Degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field.

and

One (1) year of experience performing analysis, installation and technical support in a network environment.

Substitution

Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

Completion of a one (1) year State (DAS) Information Technology apprenticeship program equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco’s 1090 IT Operations Support Training Program may substitute for the required education.

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Two (2) years of IT experience in a Windows networked environment.
  • Two (2) years of IT experience in a Microsoft Office 0365 environment.
  • Experience in administration of Widows 10 and 11 Desktops / Laptops environment.
  • Experience with disk imaging and cloning software (Ghost).
  • Experience in working with Apple and Android Mobile devices in a Microsoft O365 environment.
  • Experience with video conference equipment (webcams and Logitech Meet Up, etc.) and video conferencing apps (Teams, WebEx, Zoom, etc.).
  • Experience in administration of Remote Access (RDP) with experience in Cisco VPN, Oracle IAM and Microsoft Authenticator.
  • Demonstrate expertise in utilizing written and oral communication skills to document and share technical information.

Selection Procedures

The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement to the interview. Depending on the number of applicants, the Department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the Department will be invited to participate in the next stage of the selection process. The stated desirable qualifications may be considered at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.
