Role description
The Right of Way Maintenance Manager will be responsible for operational maintenance activities for Hetchy Hetchy Project. This includes directing crews that work on preventative and corrective maintenance of dams, roads, ROWs, water conveyance systems, and power transmission and distribution systems.
- Manage and supervise crews involved in the maintenance and repair of roads, right of ways, watersheds, water conveyance systems, power transmission and distribution systems within the Hetch Hetchy project
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates activities for maintenance crews involved in condition assessments, preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on dams, facilities, and support structures and critical infrastructure
- Coordinate activities with other government agencies that have ROW or environmental oversight (US Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Underground USA Dig, etc.)
- Mitigate wildfire risk by maintaining roads and facilities (create fire breaks, weed whacking, etc)
- Ensure employees are properly certified and trained in the fields and tasks they perform Create and manage the budget for Hetch Hetchy Project Maintenance activities
- Create and manage budget for Hetchy Project Maintenance activities and use best management practices to employ prudent spending controls and maximize efficient use of labor and materials
- Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of assigned programs
- Maintain compliance of the Hetch Hetchy Project in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Other related 0922 duties as necessary
How to qualify
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
AND
Experience: Five (5) years of professional experience in the maintenance, repair or rehabilitation of any of the following utility or industrial related facilities: water conveyance systems and support structures, power transmission and distribution system right-of-ways, roads and small bridges, and watershed areas.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis (30 semester/ 45 quarter units equals one year).
Desirable: Two (2) years of supervisory experience in the maintenance, repair or rehabilitation of any of the following utility or industrial related facilities: water conveyance systems and support structures, power transmission and distribution system right-of-ways, roads and small bridges, and watershed areas.

Supplemental Questionnaire Essay Exam (100%)
The purpose of the Supplemental Questionnaire (SQ) is to evaluate the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that candidates possess in job-related areas, which have been identified as critical for this position and include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of utility assets, utility regulations, maintenance activities, budget management, supervisory and communication skills.
Qualified candidates will be sent email notices to complete the MQSQ and SQ exam. Failure to complete these steps by the established deadlines will result in disqualification.
A passing score must be achieved on the exam to be placed on the eligible list and continue in the selection process. Additional selection processes, like interviews, may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.
Score Report/Eligible List
A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved.
