Role description
This 1840 Junior Management Assistant position will serve as the administrative coordinator for the organizational transition and restructuring of the Employment Services Division (DHR-ES). This includes supporting the DHR-ES with the delivery of direct and consultative human resource support to departments, citywide recruitment and examinations, citywide HR operations (appointment processing and fingerprint/conviction history review), Civil Service rule and HR policy changes, and other discrete departmental human resource work order projects. The 1840 position will provide direct administrative and clerical support to the Employment Services Director and Assistant Employment Services Directors in the transition process. The essential functions and duties of this position include but not limited to:
- Performing administrative functions in the areas of operations, budget, position management, and office management/support services;
- Assisting in the development, management and implementation of departmental work orders;
- Manages office and coordinating clerical and technical support activities;
- Preparing agenda items, attending department meetings, and making presentations;
- Gathering, compiling and analyzing data, and preparing reports;
- Assisting in development and recommendation of changes to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
- Assisting in the analyses of programs, proposals and projects.
How to qualify
Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public or business administration, accounting, finance, economics, social sciences, education, or related field, or other areas closely related to specific department program or function.
Substitution: May substitute up to two (2) years of the required education with additional qualifying experience in program/office/operations management, budget development and/or administration, or contract/grant administration. One year (2000 hours) of additional qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.
