Role description
Under general supervision, the Supply Room Attendant performs a number of routine duties in a storeroom of a large food service operation or department.
This position performs the following essential duties:
- Performs computerized inventory and ordering.
- Receives, stores, and issues food service supplies and materials at a storeroom of a large institutional kitchen. This may consist of receiving large orders in pallet-form at the loading dock, transporting and storing appropriately during various weather conditions. Various weather conditions include: rain, wind, frost, fog, cloud (humidity & precipitation), and heat/sunshine.
- Supervises Food Service Workers in general storeroom activities.
- Maintaining records of receipts, issuances, invoices, and stock levels of supplies.
- Performs stock keeping, organization and clerical duties related to the maintenance of sufficient supplies of various items in a food service department, and prepares requisitions to replenish needed supplies. May consist of storing in a higher ground involving usage of step-stool, step-ladder, ladder, or similar to safely elevate in order to stock keep.
- Performs and maintains a clean and well stocked storeroom according to standards set by regulatory agencies. This may include conducting audits on food safety to meet regulartory compliance.
- Utilizes email to communicate with vendors, managers, and others.
The 2608 Supply Room Attendant also performs other related duties as assigned.
How to qualify
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Required
1. Completion of eight years of elementary school; AND
2. Two (2) years of experience as a kitchen helper, porter or orderly, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
Computer Operation Requirement: During the probationary period, the employee will be required to demonstrate ability to utilize a personal computer to perform assignments. Failure to perform this function may result in dismissal and/or termination from employment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The stated desirable qualifications may be used to identify job finalists at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current ServSafe Certification.
- Experience with ordering and receiving in a Healthcare setting is strongly desired.
- Experience with the procurement software system such as CBORD FSS.
- Ability to lift, pull, push at least 50lbs on a daily basis.
- Ability to operate a pallet jack or similar equipment/machines.
- Ability to organize, collaborate and develop working relationships with diverse staff, communities, and organizations.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

SELECTION PROCEDURES
Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (Weight: Qualifying): This Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the Minimum Qualifications for this position. Applicants must also complete the official application. It is essential that applicants provide complete information in identifying their education, experience and training. The Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
Supplemental Questionnaire Examination: (Weight = 100%):
Qualified candidates will be sent a Supplemental Questionnaire (SQ) exam that must be completed by the set date. Candidates will be evaluated on their relative knowledge, skill and ability levels in job-related areas. A passing score must be achieved on the SQ in order to be placed/ranked on the Eligible List. Candidate responses on the Supplemental Questionnaire cannot be changed once submitted. Candidates will be placed in rank order according to their final score on the SQ. Supplemental Questionnaire will be evaluated in relations to the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this class which may include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of inventory and ordering, and handling and storage of supplies in an institutional food service storeroom including record keeping of receipts, invoices, issuances and balances; Knowledge or keeping in compliance with various regulatory agencies; Knowledge of safe handling/storage of food; and Ability to direct and/or lead the work of others. A passing score must be achieved on the Supplemental Questionnaire Evaluation in order to be ranked on the eligible list.
Eligible List: A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores, and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible lists, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list shall be made available to public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g. as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission. The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be of six (6) months, and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
Certification: The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be Rule of Three Scores. Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions. The department may administer additional position-specific selection procedures to make final hiring decisions.
