Role description
Project: New Trades and Maintenance Building
The Project Manager II (PM-II) is responsible for assisting with the management of planning, design and construction of SFPUC capital improvement projects related to the replacement of buildings and facilities at the Wastewater’s Southeast Plant (SEP) campus. The New Trades and Maintenance Building Project, planned for FY23, is essential to meeting current and future facility requirements for the Enterprise workforce. Existing facilities for trades and maintenance groups have been displaced by the Biosolids project. Staff is currently operating in temporary facilities.
The PM II will assist the Senior PM assigned to oversee Building and Facilities capital improvement projects within the 10-Year Wastewater Enterprise Capital Program, adopted by the SFPUC. Under general administrative direction of the senior Project Manager , the PM II will lead efforts to successfully deliver the New Trades and Maintenance facility at SEP. The project will include working closely with the numerous internal and external stakeholders and large design and construction teams.
Essential Functions:
- Project Management: Manage project budget, schedule, and scope.
- Planning: Needs Definition, Condition Assessment. and Conceptual Planning: Define the project needs, assess the conditions of all existing pertinent facilities, and identify feasible alternatives to address project needs.
- Environmental Review: Conduct required environmental studies, and analyze and evaluate project alternatives. If necessary, prepare draft and final EIR for circulation and public hearings. Pursue negative declaration if feasible.
- Design and Design Criteria: Develop 100% construction documents (plans and specifications) for the project.
- Bid and Contracting Support: Provide support to PUC Contracts for bidding, the SFPUC award process, and contracting.
- Construction Management Support: Provide construction management support to facilitate project construction.
- Operational Start-Up and Close-Out: Provide as-needed support to facilitate the operational start-up of any newly constructed facilities and assist in financial close-out of the projects.
The 5504 Project Manager II will perform other related duties as assigned.
How to qualify
- Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, planning, or landscape architecture; plus four (4) years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience, OR
- A Bachelor's Degree in another field plus six (6) years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, OR
- Eight (8) years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project, OR
- California registration as professional engineer or architect, AND
- Additional two (2) years of project coordination experience.
