About:

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital's Rehabilitation Department is accepting applications for one full-time position in class 2550 Senior Occupational Therapist. 

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center is a large acute care teaching hospital with a Level I Trauma Center in the City and County of San Francisco offering a comprehensive range of inpatient, ambulatory, skilled nursing, rehabilitative, and community-oriented programs and is affiliated with the University of California San Francisco. The Department of Public Health serves the culturally diverse, safety net, and underserved population of San Francisco. The hospital is open twenty-four hours, seven days per week basis. Therefore, employees may be required to work weekends and holidays. 

Role description

Duties Include

  • Establishing and implementing policies, standards, and procedures governing the operation of the occupational therapy department  
  • Supervising and evaluating staff performance including support personnel as allowed by discipline specific state practice acts 
  • Staff scheduling for inpatient, ambulatory, and skilled nursing services 
  • Participating in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients or clients in a physical disability, psychiatric, or pediatric setting of a hospital or other institution  
  • Using and applying various modalities including splinting 
  • Performing tests and measures as part of evaluations of ADL and/or functional mobility 
  • Participate in quality improvement opportunities using LEAN methodologies  
  • Maintains accurate records per regulatory guidelines and enforces safety procedures 
  • Develops departmental learning opportunities for staff including monthly in-services and discipline specific competencies 
  • Serves as a mentor to staff and supports clinical education  
  • Performs other duties as required

Eligible List/Score Report
An examination score report will be published online for applicants to view rankings, final scores, and the number of eligible candidates. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.

The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be twelve (12) months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.

Certification
The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of Three Scores. Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.
