The ServiceNow Developer/Architect will be a senior member of the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) Team that streamlines and automates business processes. As the team’s top technical expert, you will provide guidance on the design, architecture, build, and maintenance of SFDPH’s ServiceNow platform.
Role description
Duties Include
- Assume technical responsibility for completion of major ServiceNow projects
- Advise IT and business partners on ServiceNow architecture, capabilities, and best practices
- Develop custom applications to automate business processes, including complicated workflows and user interfaces
- Write client scripts to optimize user experience (UX)
- Perform application testing of new and existing products
- Follow agile software development methods to design, build, implement, and adjust projects in rapid, iterative cycles.
- Work closely with business analysts on the ITSM team to translate business requirements into ITSM products
- Teach ITSM business analysts about technically complex elements of ServiceNow administration
- Partner closely with UX analysts to incorporate design thinking and user feedback into ITSM products
- Design and perform system integrations between ServiceNow and other technologies
- Supervise technical elements of system version upgrades to stay within one release version of the latest ServiceNow version (n-1)
- Create sufficiently detailed technical documentation so that peer developers/architects can understand, troubleshoot, and replicate ITSM products
- Advise ITSM team on technical architecture and strategy-level questions related to ServiceNow development
How to qualify
Minimum Qualifications

- ① ServiceNow Certification
- Either "System Administrator," "Developer," "Architect," "Application Specialist," or "Implementer"
- ② Experience
- Five (5) years of total experience working in a technical developer/architect role on ServiceNow projects
- Including 2 years of this ServiceNow experience:
- Creating reports
- Writing client scripts
- Performing system integrations with other technologies
- Building complex business process workflows
- Administering the Service Portal
- Including 2 years of this ServiceNow experience:
- Five (5) years of total experience working in a technical developer/architect role on ServiceNow projects
- One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours of work experience (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours a week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience working on ServiceNow projects for a government organization
- Experience with Lean process improvement
- Expertise in web design
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
