Role description

Project Name: HHWP Vehicle and Equipment Transmission to Low Emission/EV  

Position Description: 

Under immediate supervision, performs entry-level to journey-level duties in the following areas: assisting in monitoring of compliance with policy directives, regulations, laws and contracts; assisting in preparing, reviewing, updating and coordinating operating schedules and plans; assisting with the administration of wholesale and retail contracts; assisting in conducting a wide variety of analyses, studies and projects; assisting in development of operating, financial and capital plans; maintaining, reconciling and analyzing data related to section activities; compiling and keeping records; preparing correspondence and reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assists with monitoring operations of commercial vehicles to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation policy directives, regulations, laws, and contracts. Ensures and tracks that California Vehicle Emission Laws are being followed.

2. Follows all Bureau of Fleet Management and Operations procedures to prepare and track all vehicle acquisition requests forms, GPS activation & deactivation forms, fuel request forms, vehicle turn-in forms, vehicle accident reports, and rental notification forms.

3. Assists with the preparation and implementation of near- and long-term operating plans.

4. Performs legal, regulatory and market research to support fleet development, including the roll out of electric vehicles.

5. Prepares & maintains detailed fleet purchasing records including quotes, vehicle acquisition requests, purchase request, vehicle specifications, asset pay packets, contracts & warranties; Assists accounting & management with preparation of upcoming fleet & equipment budget by providing current asset cost analysis reports, resource projecting, replacement quotes & specifications, based off departmental needs.

6. Provides procurement, provisioning, and coordination of supplies and building equipment for upgrades and associated programs and projects.

7. Manages Hetch Hetchy’s automotive data systems and retrieves data & provides management detailed reports when needed.

8. Organizes & coordinates with outside agencies to upgrade Hetch Hetchy’s fleet GPS & Automated Fueling System; coordinates with other Utilities to assess needs for purchasing future assets pertaining to fleet & fire mitigation.

9.  Provides technical support on a wide variety of studies and projects, including policy and procedural reviews; capital and operating budgets; management reporting; statistical analyses; forecasting; contract negotiations; and other tasks as assigned.

Reporting Location:

Moccasin is located 140 miles east of the San Francisco Bay Area and requires a 5-hour round trip commute by car in fair weather.

How to qualify

Education:

Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university preferably with major course work in Law, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, Computer Science, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or other field related to the utility business.

License and Certification:

Specified positions may require possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.

Substitution:

Qualifying experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. One year (2000 hours) of additional qualifying experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.

Qualifying experience includes experience in one or more of the following areas: planning, scheduling, cost estimating and resource projecting for mid to large scale projects; water supply/infrastructure management and planning; power operations planning and scheduling; analysis, interpretation and application of utility contracts and regulations in either water, power (electric and/or natural gas), telecommunications, or a wastewater/clean water program; utility market and environmental analysis and planning; power supply and transmission rates and contracts; generation, transmission or distribution planning and design; or long term utility systems planning.
