Role description
One full-time Senior Physical Therapist position at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital's Rehabilitation Services.
Under the general direction of the clinic manager and the network administrator, the 2558 Senior Physical Therapist assists in directing, developing, and implementing physical therapy department goals. The role consists of direct supervision of PTs, PTA’s, and supportive staff. It includes regular participation and oversight of performance improvement projects and direct patient care within an acute care hospital and skilled nursing facility that serves a diverse patient population with complex rehabilitation needs. This role participates collaboratively with the executive administration, department leadership team, staff, and patients, assisting, as necessary, in ensuring the entire department’s operational needs are met.
Essential Functions
- Staffing
- Participation in the hiring process for direct reports
- Patient care
- Supervising and coaching professional and non-professional personnel in the delivery of therapy services at the acute and skilled nursing levels
- Using and applying various modalities and procedures
- Keeping accurate records for compliance, regulatory, and quality improvement projects
- Reviewing, developing, and implementing appropriate safety procedures
- Assisting in developing budgets and supply requests
- Other related duties as assigned/required
How to qualify

- Requires registration as a Physical Therapist licensed by the Physical Therapy Board of California
- License number search result must show "Current" at https://search.dca.ca.gov
- Requires three (3) years of experience in applying physical therapy rehabilitation techniques. Experience in applying specialized pediatric techniques is desirable in specified positions requiring work with children.

- Physical Therapy experience in an acute care and SNF level of care
- Experience and familiarity with leading teams using Lean tools and methods
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of metrics and key performance indicators related to patient-centered care

Condition of Employment
Possession of a valid Basic Life Support for Professional Rescuer (BLS) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association is required as a provision to employment for all positions.
- Applicants who do not possess such a certification may participate in this examination process and be appointed but will be required to obtain the certificate within two (2) weeks of hire and maintain validity throughout the length of employment.
- The valid Basic Life Support for Professional Rescuer (BLS) Certificate must be provided to the appropriate supervisor of the appointment within the allotted time frame.
- Failure to demonstrate/show proof of possession of valid certification within two (2) weeks of hire date and throughout the length of employment may result in dismissal and/or termination of employment.

Eligible List/Score Report
An examination score report will be published online for applicants to view rankings, final scores, and the number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law. A confidential list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.
The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be twelve (12) months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.

Certification
The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of Three Scores. Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.
