Role description
Project Name: Cross Connection Control Program (CCCP)
Position Description:
The goal of the Cross Connection Project (CCP) is to assess and mitigate the potential risk of a cross contamination of the Regional Water Transmission System's appurtenances.
The general project scope of work is to work with management and the Utility Plummer Supervisor to schedule, plan logistics, and assist the team in completing a backlog of cross connections for various neighborhoods for the city of San Francisco.
The Project anticipated completing within three years as there is a backlog of cross connections that need to be completed. For the first phase and the duration of the project, the incumbent will analyze the backlog and prepare cost estimates and repair activities. The planner will also plan maintenance and repair schedules for all cross connections in the city. In the second phase, the planner will assess, recommend, and develop new preventive maintenance procedures for management approval. In the third phase, the incumbent will execute the new preventive maintenance plan and prepare templates for statistical reports on all maintenance and repair activities for future use.
Under direction, plans and coordinates repair and maintenance activities on various industrial facilities, public right of ways, water transmission systems, water distribution systems and building utilities. May supervise the work of subordinate personnel such as schedulers, estimators and clerical staff by planning, assigning, coordinating and directing work assignments. Maintain and evaluate maintenance history records to ensure accurate assessment of equipment and system performance, frequency of failure and labor and material costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investigates and evaluates departmental requests for various types of maintenance and repair, which may include on-site inspections of machinery and structures.
- Prepares cost estimates for maintenance and repair activities and develop and maintain a list of materials and labor costs for recurring maintenance jobs.
- Plans maintenance and repairs schedules for routine and preventive maintenance to ensure uninterrupted operation of systems.
- Develops new preventive maintenance procedures as required to adjust to changes in system operations, use patterns and new developments in maintenance and materials technologies.
- Prepares statistical reports on all maintenance and repair activities.
Work Location: 1000 El Camino Real, Millbrae
Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
How to qualify
If you are interested in a job like this, we are looking for people that have the following:
Experience:
1. Three (3) years of verifiable experience in one of the following areas:
(a) as a maintenance estimator and/or scheduler or equivalent in facilities (building utilities, related structures and equipment) maintenance.
(b) as a maintenance planner for construction or facilities/equipment maintenance.
(c) as a supervisor of journey level workers in a construction or facilities/equipment maintenance related field.
OR
2. Four (4) years of verifiable journey level experience in a construction or facilities/equipment maintenance related field.
OR
3. Completion of a minimum four (4) year Building and Trades certified apprenticeship program AND two (2) years journey level of experience in a construction or facilities/equipment maintenance (a copy of apprenticeship certificate must be submitted with application)
Minimum Qualifications Notes:
For minimum qualifications #1, #2 and #3 listed above, the experience must include one (1) year using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) program.
License and Certification:
Possession of a valid California driver's license
Desirable Qualifications:
The stated desirable qualifications may be used to identify job finalists at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.
- Have proficiency in navigating MAXIMO (a Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Have proficiency in navigating COGNOS (a software product used to create and manage ad hoc and custom-made reports).
- Have proficiency in navigating GIS (a mapping software product used to locate and manage assets).
