ReproMail is the City and County of San Francisco's central printing and mailing facility offering services to all City Departments. All ReproMail employees are cross-trained to partake in all areas of production and delivery.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, and shifting schedule.
Role description
Under general supervision, 1760 Print/Mail Machine Operator operates multiple printing, bindery and/or mailing equipment. This is the journey-level class of the series.
1. Operates, sets up and adjusts printing, mailing and bindery equipment.
2. Maintains machines in good working order by cleaning, greasing and oiling; performs minor repairs when necessary; keeps work and storage areas orderly.
3. Records and reports progress of work.
4. Controls inventory; requisitions and acquires materials and supplies.
5. Performs related duties as required.
Nature of work requires: physical effort and manual dexterity in the operation and maintenance of high speed digital or other related equipment; perform heavy lifting of at least 50 pounds; required to drive in order to transport materials.
How to qualify
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Two (2) years of recent experience in the operation of an offset machine and/or highspeed digital production printer (including bindery) in a reprographic or production center environment.
Special Condition(s):
Possession of a valid California driver’s license (Class C); and
Ability to perform heavy lifting of boxes and materials weighing 50 pounds.
Note(s):
One-year full-time employment is considered equivalent to 2000 hours (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
A valid out-of-state driver’s license is acceptable during the application process. A valid California driver's license must be obtained prior to appointment and maintained throughout employment.

Selection Procedure/Examination Requirements
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following:
Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ):
Candidates will be required to complete a MQSQ as part of the employment application at a later time. This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
Supplemental Questionnaire (Weight 100%):
Candidates deemed to meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in supplemental questionnaire evaluation designed to measure their relative knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas, which may include, but not be limited to: knowledge of safe operation of printing, bindery, mailing equipment, and related machinery; ability to: communicate orally and in writing in an effective manner; prepare routine records and reports; read and understand written instructions such as operating manuals, requests for reproduction, etc.; interact tactfully, courteously and diplomatically with other departmental personnel; identify and distinguish among grades, weights and sizes of paper; maintain equipment and perform minor repair procedures.
A passing score must be achieved on the supplemental questionnaire in order to be ranked on the eligible list.
Eligible List/Score Report:
A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created, and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.
The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
