The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of two main Divisions - the San Francisco Health Network and Population Health. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers.

Role description
- Shift: Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Location: 1001 Potrero Avenue, San Francisco, CA. 94110
Under supervision, the Assistant Storekeeper performs manual and routine clerical duties in the receipt, storage and issuance of materials, supplies and equipment at a storeroom or central warehouse. The essential duties of a 1932 Assistant Storekeeper will include but are not limited to the following:
- Providing customer service to all patients, staff and vendors;
- Maintaining regular, reliable attendance and punctuality;
- Working directly with patients and staff for filling medical supply prescriptions and routine supply orders;
- Entering records of stocks received and issued or charged to other departments or patients; filling supply orders out of storeroom; assist in taking periodic inventories of supplies on hand in storeroom or warehouse, using computers and electronic scanners for inventory control;
- Using FIFO principle, restock and cycle count Medical Supplies throughout the hospital;
- Delivering medical supplies and equipment to the various Zuckerberg San Francisco General departments, all outside departments on campus and some of the Department of Public Health City Clinics, and Administrative locations;
- Performing manual and routine clerical duties in the receipt, storage and issuance of materials, supplies and equipment at storeroom/central warehouse;
- May operate manual or automatic equipment such as dollies, hand or electric trucks in connection with the receipt, storage, removal, transfer or issuance of supplies and equipment;
- May assist with offsite deliveries and pick ups;
- Maintaining order and cleanliness in storeroom;
- May require driving City vehicle to transport packages and other goods to offsite locations;
The 1932 Assistant Storekeeper may perform other duties as assigned.
How to qualify
- EDUCATION: Requires completion of four (4) years of high school; AND
- EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience performing at least three of the following duties: ordering, receiving, stocking, inventory control, and issuing large and varied quantities of supplies, materials, and equipment.

Note: One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: The stated desired qualifications listed below may be used to identify job finalists at the end of the selection process after candidates are referred for selection.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures commonly used in receiving, storing and issuing supplies and related inventory and record keeping work.
- Ability to follow instructions and cooperate with others in the performance of duties.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and inventories.
- Ability to operate various manual and automotive equipment common to storeroom activities.
- One or more years of experience working in a hospital storeroom, distribution center or receiving area.
- Customer service experience.
