Calculate my linear score

Self-calculation

To calculate your final score, follow these steps using the information included in your score email.

1 - Calculate the weighted score for each exam component

We will use these numbers to find your weighted score for each component. Use these directions for each raw score that you have and keep track of the results separately:

  • Raw Score(s) - You will have a different raw score for each exam component.
  • Pass Point(s) - This is the minimum score that is required to pass the component. You must pass all components in order to be considered for an open role.
  • High Score(s) - This is the score that is considered the highest score possible for each component.
  • Weight(s) - This is the percentage that each component makes up of your final score. The total for all components should equal 100%.

Weighted Score = ((Raw Score-Pass Point)/(High Score-Pass Point))x(Weight/100)

2 - Total your weighted scores

Take all of your weighted scores from step one and add them together for your total weighted score

3 - Find your composite score

Multiply your total weighted score from step two by 300, then add 700. Your result should be between 700 and 1000. This is your composite score.

If there are no score modifiers, such as veterans preference points listed in your score email, this is also your final score.

4 - Final Score

If you have any score modifiers, add them (or subtract them) to your composite score to get your final score.

Important notes

Rounding - Your score has been processed by a high speed and high efficiency computing system. Due to decimals when conducting division operations, your self-calculated final score may vary by a point or two from the official score generated by the computer. This is normal, due to rounding and number casting operations that are applied the same to all candidates. This difference will never impact your rank on an eligible list.
